The annual MSCA STARR Awards honor outstanding projects and extraordinary individuals in the retail and shopping center industry.

In 2018 alone, 15 corporations that were once staples in the retail industry are facing the threat of closure. Large big-box chains such as Sears, Toys”R”Us, and JC Penney are struggling in the face of the changes in consumers’ shopping habits.

The Gardner School of Edina is a Top Project of 2017
Shingobee is pleased to announce that The Gardner School in Edina, MN, has been named one of 2017’s Top Projects by Finance & Commerce. Shingobee provided a complete renovation of an aging industrial building that had been sparsely occupied for the last ten years. The renovation and conversion to a handsome, contemporary preschool/childcare center revived the building and significantly improved its appearance in an office/industrial area of Edina.

Tribal members of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe held a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for the new Onigum Community Center on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Shingobee provided construction of the new community center, located in the Onigum community near Walker, MN, in the southern section of the Leech Lake Reservation.

Shingobee is constructing the new community center for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. The walls are being constructed with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), a progressive, energy-efficient method. Concrete Inc. of St. Cloud, MN (Shingobee’s subcontractor) constructed the walls utilizing more than 50% local tribal labor. Shingobee and Concrete Inc. conducted training on ICF wall construction, OSHA regulations, and plan reading at the Leech Lake Tribal College earlier this year, to prepare and train local laborers for the construction of this facility.
