Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton recently announced the appointment of Jon Fahning, Shingobee’s Vice President of Real Estate Development, to a four-year term on the Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board.

Fahning’s appointment fills a general public position on the Board, which includes representatives appointed by the Governor, City of St. Paul, and the Minnesota Legislature.

The Capitol Area Board is responsible for architecture, urban design, and comprehensive land-use planning in the Capitol area of St. Paul, exercises zoning and design review authority, and oversees redevelopment of the north Capitol area. One of its highest priorities is the ongoing restoration and maintenance of the Minnesota State Capitol Building.

Jon Fahning’s background as both a landscape architect and real estate developer make him uniquely qualified for this appointment. “I am honored by the appointment and look forward to being involved in the planning and design of Minnesota’s Capitol area,” said Fahning.

Jon has been Vice President of Shingobee Real Estate Company for one year. He has over 20 years of experience in real estate development, with involvement in projects of all sizes, nationally and internationally. He is a graduate of Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture and Land Planning (BLA), with an emphasis in urban planning and real estate development.
