Shingobee has begun construction of two new hotels, one in the Twin Cities metro, and one in Mankato.

A new Courtyard Marriott hotel is under way in St. Louis Park, MN, on a site adjacent to the existing Minneapolis Marriott West on Wayzata Blvd.

Courtyard Marriott Groundbreaking

CSM Project Manager Mark Oelrich, Marriott GM Lori Geiwitz, and CSM Sr. Director of Development Scott Peterson recognized the start of construction with a groundbreaking at the construction site on December 6.

Owner CSM Corporation has planned a six-story hotel with lobby and guestrooms on the ground level and five levels of guestrooms above, with an enclosed walkway connection to the current Marriott. Guestroom total will be 142 rooms. The structure will be five levels of wood framing over one level of precast concrete. The building is approximately 81,000 gross square feet, with:

  • 12,500 square feet of lobby, dining, and public space
  • 1,400 square feet of conference and meeting space
  • 67,100 square feet of guest room space

The existing entrances and parking areas will be realigned, and coordination will take place with the existing Marriott hotel, which will stay open throughout building construction.

Construction started in November and is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2017.
